DK Shivakumar Says IPL Final Should Have Been Held in Bengaluru, Not Ahmedabad

Karnataka Chief Minister-designate DK Shivakumar has reignited the debate over the venue selection for the Indian Premier League (IPL) final, stating that the real injustice was not done to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) but to the people of Bengaluru and the youth of Karnataka.

Speaking on the issue, Shivakumar said that the IPL final should have been hosted in Bengaluru instead of Ahmedabad. He remarked that Bengaluru, a city with one of the most passionate cricket fan bases in the country, deserved the opportunity to host the marquee event.

"Injustice has not been done to RCB. Injustice has been done to Bengaluru and Karnataka youngsters. The IPL final was supposed to be played here, but it happened in Ahmedabad. Whatever happened last time, we have all forgotten it and have started a new beginning," Shivakumar said.

His comments come amid growing discussions among cricket fans and stakeholders regarding venue allocations for major IPL matches. The statement is likely to resonate strongly with RCB supporters and cricket enthusiasts across Karnataka, who have long advocated for greater recognition of Bengaluru's contribution to Indian cricket.

As the IPL continues to grow as one of the world's biggest sporting leagues, venue selection remains a topic of significant public and political interest.
