Donald Trump Hails ‘Highly Successful’ G7 Summit, Claims Landmark Iran Agreement Reached
US President Donald Trump has described the G7 Summit as one of the most successful gatherings of world leaders in recent years, praising French President Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron for hosting the event.
Speaking at the conclusion of the summit, Trump thanked the French leadership for their hospitality and organization, saying the meeting could not have come at a more important time amid ongoing global challenges.
"I wanted to thank President Macron and Brigitte, his really lovely wife, fantastic person, for welcoming us to France for an extremely successful G7 summit. I would say it's one of the most successful, and this meeting could not have come at a better time," Trump said.
The US President also highlighted what he described as a major diplomatic breakthrough involving Iran. According to Trump, an agreement reached on Sunday achieved key objectives set by participating nations, including ending the current conflict, reopening the Strait of Hormuz, and ensuring that Iran does not obtain a nuclear weapon.
"On Sunday, we reached an agreement with Iran that achieves everything we set out to accomplish, everything and much more," Trump stated.
He emphasized that preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons remained the central goal of the agreement.
"Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon. They can't develop it, buy it. They can never have a nuclear weapon," Trump added.
The remarks come as world leaders continue discussions on global security, energy stability, trade, and geopolitical tensions. Trump's comments signal a potentially significant diplomatic development in efforts to ease tensions in the Middle East and safeguard international energy routes through the Strait of Hormuz.
