Donald Trump Says Downed US Jets Won’t Impact Iran Talks Amid Escalating Tensions

US President Donald Trump has stated that the recent downing of American military aircraft will not affect ongoing diplomatic discussions with Iran. According to reports, Trump dismissed concerns that the incident could derail negotiations, marking his first public response since the loss of US planes during the ongoing hostilities. The developments come as military operations and diplomatic efforts continue simultaneously in the region. Two US warplanes were reportedly shot down over Iran and the Gulf, with officials from both sides confirming the incidents. Two pilots were rescued, while a third remains missing, with search operations underway by Iranian forces. One of the aircraft, a two-seat F-15E Strike Eagle, was brought down by Iranian fire, while the second, an A-10 Thunderbolt II, crashed over Kuwait after being hit. The pilot of the A-10 successfully ejected. In addition, two UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters involved in the search-and-rescue mission were also hit but managed to exit Iranian airspace. The condition of the crew remains unclear. Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps confirmed it is searching for the missing pilot in southwestern Iran, highlighting the continued risks faced by US and allied aircraft in the region despite claims of airspace dominance by US officials, including Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth. The incidents underscore the fragile security situation as tensions persist, even while diplomatic channels remain open.
