Fadnavis: Opposition Running Away From Parliament Debate

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis launched a sharp attack on the Opposition, accusing it of repeatedly avoiding debate in Parliament and creating disruptions instead of participating in discussions.

Fadnavis alleged that the Opposition was “running away from the debate” because a detailed discussion could expose what he described as its “duplicity.” He claimed that a debate would also raise questions over the Opposition’s position on Jharkhand and force its leaders to explain their silence on the issue.

The Maharashtra Chief Minister said the Opposition had initially argued that it did not want a discussion because Union Home Minister Amit Shah was not responding. According to Fadnavis, the situation changed after Shah confirmed in writing that he was ready to reply.

“Once Amit Shah confirmed in writing that he was ready to reply, these fugitives ran away,” Fadnavis said, using strong language against the Opposition.

Fadnavis further accused the Opposition of having little concern for issues concerning young people and education. He alleged that its primary objective was to create disruptions in Parliament, gain television coverage and oppose the government for the sake of opposition.

“I have never seen an opposition that acts more like a fugitive than this one,” Fadnavis said.

His remarks come amid continued political confrontation over parliamentary debates, with the government and Opposition trading allegations over disruptions and the conduct of legislative proceedings.
