High-Level Review Meeting Held on West Bengal Poll Preparedness for 2026 Assembly Elections
In a crucial step toward ensuring smooth and transparent electoral proceedings, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of West Bengal, along with the Special Election Observer and Police Observer, convened a high-level review meeting on Wednesday to assess preparedness for the upcoming General Election to the West Bengal Legislative Assembly (WBLA) 2026. Election Commission West Bengal The meeting, held at the CEO Office, brought together senior law enforcement officials, including the Director General (DG) & Inspector General (IG) of Police, Commissioners of Police (CP), Additional Directors General (ADG), and Inspectors General (IG) from across the state. Discussions focused on strengthening security arrangements, ensuring adequate deployment of forces, and enhancing coordination between civil and police administration. Key emphasis was placed on maintaining law and order, safeguarding vulnerable areas, and implementing robust measures to guarantee free, fair, and peaceful elections. Officials also reviewed district-wise preparedness, intelligence inputs, and logistical arrangements, underlining the importance of proactive planning in view of the multi-phase electoral process expected for the 2026 Assembly polls.
