India Witnesses Historic Moment as PM Modi Surpasses Nehru’s Tenure Record

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the longest-serving continuously elected Prime Minister in India's history, completing 4,399 consecutive days in office.

The announcement was highlighted by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, who noted that Prime Minister Modi has surpassed the previous record of 4,398 continuous days held by India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru.

According to Vaishnaw, the achievement reflects the strength of India’s democratic framework, the trust reposed by citizens in elected leadership, and the active participation of voters in the democratic process. He described the milestone as a testament to the maturity of Indian democracy, where leadership is determined through public mandate and sustained by governance and performance.

Prime Minister Modi first assumed office on May 26, 2014, and has since led the country through three consecutive terms. The latest milestone adds another chapter to his political journey and underscores his enduring electoral appeal across multiple national elections.

Political observers view the development as a significant moment in India's democratic history, highlighting the continuity of leadership through repeated electoral mandates.
