Jaismine Lamboria Wins CWG 2026 Boxing Gold for India

Indian boxer Jaismine Lamboria produced a composed and clinical performance to win the Women's 57kg gold medal at the Commonwealth Games 2026, defeating reigning champion Michaela Walsh of Northern Ireland by a 5-0 unanimous decision at the Scottish Event Campus (SEC).

The victory marked India's second boxing gold medal of the day, following Preeti Pawar's triumph in the Women's 54kg final, further strengthening India's impressive campaign in Glasgow.

Tactical Masterclass in the Final

The gold-medal bout began cautiously, with both boxers relying on counter-attacking tactics. Jaismine landed the cleaner punches in the opening round, earning a narrow 3-2 edge from the judges.

She stepped up the intensity in the second round, using sharp footwork, excellent ring awareness, and precise combinations to outscore Walsh on every judge's card with a dominant 5-0 round.

Knowing she needed a strong finish, Walsh pressed aggressively in the final round. However, Jaismine remained composed, controlled the distance effectively, and neutralized every attack before sealing a unanimous victory.

The final scorecards reflected her dominance, with three judges scoring the contest 29-28 and two awarding 30-27 in her favour.

India's Boxing Golden Day

Jaismine Lamboria's victory came shortly after Preeti Pawar clinched gold in the Women's 54kg category, giving India a memorable double gold celebration in boxing at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
The twin victories underline India's growing strength in international boxing and add valuable momentum to the nation's medal campaign.
