‘My Dad is My Hero’: Manpreet Singh’s Daughters Cheer Him On

Manpreet Singh’s daughters cheering for their father with a “My Dad is My Hero” sign during a hockey match

Under the bright lights of a big hockey night, with the pressure of a crucial game unfolding on the field, Manpreet Singh had two very special supporters watching every move.

His daughters were in the stands, cheering for their father with the kind of pride that only a child can express. But they weren’t just there to watch the game — they came with a heartfelt message that captured the emotion of the night.

“My Dad is My Hero.”

Those simple words, held up proudly from the stands, said more than any chant could.
For Manpreet Singh, accustomed to carrying the expectations of a nation on his shoulders, the sight of his daughters cheering him on must have carried a different kind of meaning. Beyond the goals, tackles, victories and pressure of international hockey, there was a deeply personal reminder waiting in the crowd — two little voices telling their dad just how much he means to them.

For his daughters, however, their hero needed no medal or trophy.

He was simply Dad.

As Manpreet and his teammates battled on the pitch, his daughters remained among the most passionate supporters in the stands, their message becoming one of the most touching moments of the evening.

Sport often celebrates heroes for what they achieve under pressure. But sometimes, the most powerful definition of a hero comes from somewhere much closer to home.
For Manpreet Singh, it came from his daughters.

“My Dad is My Hero.”

A big game. A proud family. And a beautiful reminder that behind every athlete is a story that goes far beyond the scoreboard.
