Manu Bhaker and Tajinderpal Singh Toor to Carry Indian Flag at Asian Games Opening Ceremony

Double Olympic medal-winning shooter Manu Bhaker and defending Asian Games shot put champion Tajinderpal Singh Toor have been named India’s flag-bearers for the Asian Games opening ceremony.

The opening ceremony is scheduled to take place on Saturday. India’s Chef-de-Mission Sahdev Yadav confirmed that Bhaker would be one of the country’s flag-bearers, while the Athletics Federation of India later confirmed Toor as the second flag-bearer.

Bhaker created history at the Paris 2024 Olympics, becoming the first athlete from independent India to win two medals at a single edition of the Olympic Games. Her achievement marked a landmark moment for Indian shooting.

Toor, meanwhile, enters the Asian Games with an impressive record. The shot put star has won gold medals at the last two editions of the Asian Games and will look to continue his strong continental record.

The selection of Bhaker and Toor places two accomplished Indian athletes at the forefront of the opening ceremony, symbolising the country’s sporting achievements and ambitions at the Asian Games.
