Marco Rubio Highlights Strong US–India Alliance, Calls India a Key Strategic Partner

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio emphasized the growing importance of the United States–India relationship while responding to questions comparing his recent engagements with India and China. Speaking during his India visit, Rubio underlined that both nations are major global powers but stressed that India's partnership with the United States holds special strategic significance.

Rubio described India as the world's most populous nation and a vibrant democracy, calling it a strong strategic ally of the United States. He noted that while China remains the world's second-largest economy and an important country for Washington to engage with, the US continues to place significant emphasis on strengthening ties with India.

Highlighting the broader geopolitical landscape, Rubio stated that both countries are important global players that require close attention and engagement. Reflecting on his diplomatic experiences, he added that every international visit offers valuable insights and reiterated that India and China have remained important areas of focus throughout his political career.

His remarks come at a time when India-US relations continue to deepen across defense, technology, trade, and strategic cooperation.
