Marco Rubio Visits Taj Mahal, Calls It “One of the Love Treasures of the World”
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio visited the iconic Taj Mahal with his wife Jeanette Rubio on a scorching Monday morning, calling the Mughal-era monument “one of the love treasures of the world.”
Rubio, currently on a four-day visit to India, landed at Agra’s Kheria Airport in a special aircraft around 10 a.m. before travelling to the world-famous monument under extensive security arrangements. He first reached a hotel near the eastern gate and later proceeded to the Taj Mahal in a golf cart.
Expressing admiration for the UNESCO World Heritage site, Rubio wrote in the visitors’ book: “Thank You For Allowing Us To Visit One Of The Love Treasures Of The World.”
The US Secretary of State spent nearly an hour exploring the 17th-century marble mausoleum and was accompanied by US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor. The ambassador also joined the Rubios for photographs during the visit.

Authorities tightened security around the Taj Mahal during the high-profile tour, while tourists inside the complex were temporarily moved out as a precautionary measure.
Rubio is scheduled to travel to Jaipur before returning to New Delhi on Tuesday to attend the meeting of Quadrilateral Security Dialogue foreign ministers. His visit comes amid intense heatwave conditions in Agra, one of Uttar Pradesh's hottest locations in recent days.
