There was significant buzz around the planned box-office clash between Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups and Dhurandhar on March 19. However, the makers of the Yash-starrer have now postponed the film’s release, citing the ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
In an official statement issued on Wednesday, the team said the film was conceived as a global project aimed at reaching audiences both in India and internationally. Originally scheduled for a March 19 release, the makers explained that the current geopolitical uncertainty—particularly in the Middle East—could affect the film’s global reach. As a result, they decided to delay the release.
Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups will now hit cinemas worldwide on June 4, 2026, in English and multiple Indian languages.
Directed by Geethu Mohandas, the film features Yash in the lead role alongside Kiara Advani and Tara Sutaria. The project marks Yash’s return to the big screen after the massive success of KGF: Chapter 2 in 2022.
The March 19 release date was expected to witness one of the biggest box-office clashes of the year, with Dhurandhar 2 also eyeing the same date. With Toxic now postponed, the clash has effectively been avoided.
Industry insiders claim that the film, reportedly made on a ₹600 crore budget, has already recovered its production cost through pre-release business.
Veteran producer G. Dhananjayan noted that the film has secured nearly ₹600 crore from pre-release deals. The cast also includes actors from multiple industries, such as Nayanthara, Rukmini Vasanth, Tovino Thomas, and Amit Karval, strengthening its pan-India appeal.
For overseas distribution, the makers have partnered with Phars Film in a deal reportedly worth ₹105 crore, covering the Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Malayalam versions. The English version is not part of this agreement. Additionally, a separate ₹120 crore distribution deal has been finalised for the Andhra Pradesh–Telangana region with Sri Venkateswara Creations.
