Mumbaikars Can Now Book Mumbai Metro Tickets on Uber via ONDC

In a major step towards enhancing urban mobility, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that Mumbai Metro commuters can now book their metro tickets directly through the Uber app via the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) platform. The integration is aimed at making daily travel more seamless by enabling commuters to plan their journeys end-to-end, including last-mile connectivity options, all within a single interface. Metro ticketing services are already available across multiple ONDC-enabled platforms such as Yatri, Ixigo, Navi, EMT, Tummoc, Tripozo, One Ticket, Autope, Magicpin, Chalo, RedBus, Highway Delite, and Pelocal. The addition of Uber further expands accessibility and convenience for commuters. Currently, the feature will be rolled out for Mumbai Metro Lines 2A and 7, with plans to extend the service to Lines 9 and 2B in the near future. This initiative complements existing digital ticketing options, including the Mumbai One App, Mumbai One Card, and WhatsApp-based ticketing, providing commuters with multiple flexible choices to access metro services. Alongside digital integration, authorities are also focusing on strengthening physical infrastructure to improve first- and last-mile connectivity. Efforts include enhancing Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) bus links, building foot overbridges, and improving parking facilities near metro stations. The move underscores the government’s broader vision of simplifying daily commutes and creating a more efficient, integrated urban transport ecosystem for Mumbai’s residents.
