“Police personnel deployed in Kolkata after Park Circus violence incident”

Tensions escalated following the stone-pelting incident in the Park Circus area of Kolkata, prompting a strong response from the West Bengal government. Addressing the issue, West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari stated that strict legal action would be taken against those involved and emphasized that law and order would be enforced without compromise. Commenting on the situation, he said such incidents cannot be tolerated and stressed that authorities are determined to curb violence and restore public confidence. He asserted that police agencies are now functioning independently and will act strictly in accordance with the law under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) framework. He also highlighted plans to modernize and strengthen the Kolkata Police force through improved infrastructure, logistics, and resources, expressing confidence in its future capabilities. Additionally, he appealed for public cooperation in maintaining peace and requested that central paramilitary forces currently deployed in the state remain until adequate alternative arrangements are in place. Authorities are also investigating claims that information regarding the incident may have surfaced on social media before the violence occurred. Officials are expected to examine the matter closely as part of the ongoing probe. The incident has once again intensified discussions surrounding law and order, policing, and public safety in West Bengal.
