Pincky Balhara Bronze Medal at Asian Games 2026 in Kurash

Pincky Balhara bronze medal Asian Games 2026 has added another significant chapter to the Indian Kurash athlete’s career as she secured a bronze medal in the women’s -78kg category at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. Balhara reached the semifinals before suffering a 0-5 defeat against South Korea’s Mo Sumin, the 2026 Asian Championships gold medallist. Despite the semifinal loss, her place in the last four assured her of a podium finish for India.

The bronze medal is Balhara’s second Asian Games medal. She had previously won silver in the women’s -52kg category at the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games, when Kurash made its debut at the continental event. Her latest achievement makes her one of India’s notable performers in the sport at the Asian Games.

Pincky Balhara Loses Semifinal to Mo Sumin

Pincky Balhara entered the semifinal after producing a strong performance in the quarterfinal. She defeated South Korea’s Garam Lim 3-0 to book her place in the final four and assure herself of an Asian Games medal.

Against Lim, Balhara produced the decisive score through a Chala, a scoring move awarded when an athlete throws an opponent without demonstrating complete control over the action. Lim was unable to register a point during the contest.

However, the semifinal presented a tougher challenge. Balhara faced South Korea’s Mo Sumin, who had won gold at the 2026 Asian Championships. Mo controlled the contest and eventually recorded a 5-0 victory.

Balhara received a Dakki, a penalty associated with two warnings, while Mo earned a Yonbosh point during the contest. The South Korean athlete maintained her advantage to secure a place in the gold-medal bout, while Balhara finished with the bronze.
