PM Modi Congratulates Narender Berwal on CWG 2026 Silver

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Indian boxer Narender Berwal after he secured the Silver Medal in the Men's 90+kg Boxing event at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Sharing his message on social media, the Prime Minister lauded Berwal's remarkable performance and unwavering fighting spirit throughout the tournament.
"Very happy that Narender Berwal has won a Silver in the Men's 90+ kg Boxing event at the Commonwealth Games. Congratulations to him for displaying immense courage and determination throughout the competition. May the future bring him several more accomplishments."

Narender Berwal reached the final after defeating Samoa's Michael Sako in the quarter-finals and Trinidad & Tobago's Nigel Paul in the semi-finals. In the gold medal bout, he faced England's Damar Thomas and finished with the silver medal after a hard-fought contest.

The silver medal capped an outstanding campaign for the Indian boxing contingent, which delivered its best-ever Commonwealth Games performance by finishing with a record 10 medals—7 Gold and 3 Silver.

Berwal's achievement further strengthened India's impressive showing in Glasgow and earned praise from leaders and sports fans across the country.
