At a high-energy Vijay Sankalp Sabha in Bishnupur, West Bengal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a strong political attack on the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC), accusing it of insulting President Droupadi Murmu and undermining the Constitution. Addressing a large gathering, the Prime Minister claimed that while the world respects President Murmu, the TMC has repeatedly disrespected her, especially during her visit to Bengal. He asserted that women across the state would not forget this alleged insult. Modi emphasized that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) stands firmly for women’s empowerment and safety. He said that this commitment has earned the trust and support of women nationwide, adding that the party aims to increase women’s participation in politics and nation-building. Targeting the TMC government, he accused it of promoting religion-based reservations and benefiting infiltrators, which he said weakens the spirit of the Constitution. He also alleged widespread corruption, claiming that welfare benefits meant for the poor and women are not reaching them under the current regime. Highlighting BJP’s promises for West Bengal, Modi outlined several welfare measures, including: Free ration support for the poor population Financial assistance of up to ₹1.5 lakh for women under PM Awas Yojana Free healthcare up to ₹5 lakh under Ayushman Bharat ₹36,000 annual support through the proposed “Maatri Shakti Bharosa Card” ₹21,000 assistance for pregnant women ₹5,000 support after childbirth ₹50,000 financial aid for daughters’ education He also criticized the TMC for opposing tribal leadership, contrasting it with the BJP’s decision to support a tribal President He added that alleged criminals and corrupt individuals linked to TMC should surrender before April 29, stating that strict action would follow after May 4. Framing the political battle as a people’s movement, the Prime Minister said, “The Bengal tiger is the people of Bengal,” asserting that citizens are ready for change and determined to remove what he termed a “ruthless government.”
