The Ram Mandir donation case has triggered a fresh political controversy, with Congress president and Rajya Sabha Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge demanding that Prime Minister Narendra Modi address Parliament over allegations concerning donations and valuables associated with the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

Kharge said the matter concerns the religious sentiments and faith of millions of devotees and argued that the Prime Minister should explain the functioning and composition of the trust responsible for managing the temple.

The allegations are currently under investigation, and the claims made by political leaders should not be treated as established facts unless confirmed through the ongoing probe or by a competent authority.

Kharge Demands PM Modi’s Response

Speaking to ANI in Rudrapur on Sunday, Kharge said the Opposition had raised the issue in Parliament on behalf of devotees who have faith in Lord Ram and the Ram Temple.

Kharge questioned the process through which the temple trust was constituted and called for greater accountability regarding its functioning.

He argued that because the Prime Minister was involved in key stages connected with the temple's development and inauguration, he should come to Parliament and respond to questions surrounding the allegations.

‘Issue Concerns Faith of Devotees’

According to Kharge, the allegations have caused concern among devotees and have affected their religious sentiments.

He said Opposition parties were expected to raise the matter in Parliament and maintained that the Congress had taken up the issue on behalf of those seeking answers.

The Congress leader also questioned how the temple trust operates and sought clarification regarding the management of donations and other assets associated with the temple.

Allegations Involving Temple Donations and Valuables

The Ram Mandir donation case involves allegations concerning the handling of donations and valuables associated with the temple.

Kharge referred to claims involving jewellery, gold, silver, cash and other valuables. He also mentioned allegations concerning gold bricks and a gold copy of the Ramcharitmanas.

However, these are allegations that remain subject to investigation. The ongoing probe is expected to establish the facts, trace the alleged money trail and determine whether any financial irregularities occurred.

Fresh SIT Probe Ordered

The controversy gained further significance after the Uttar Pradesh government informed the Supreme Court on July 27 that a fresh Special Investigation Team (SIT) had been constituted to investigate the allegations.

According to the information cited in the report, the SIT is headed by Inspector General of Police Kiran S.
The investigation is expected to examine the alleged financial transactions, trace the money trail and identify individuals who may have benefited from any alleged irregularities.

Eight Accused Arrested

According to information provided by ANI, eight accused persons have so far been arrested in connection with the case.

Investigators are reportedly examining financial transactions and tracing assets as part of the investigation. The probe may also determine whether additional individuals or entities were involved.

The arrests, however, do not by themselves establish guilt. The allegations will have to be tested through the legal process.

Opposition Raises the Issue in Parliament

The issue has also been raised by other Opposition parties.

Several Samajwadi Party MPs previously protested near Parliament and displayed posters carrying the slogan “Chanda chor, gaddi chhod”, demanding accountability over the allegations.

The Opposition has sought discussion on the matter in Parliament, arguing that questions concerning donations and the management of temple-related assets should be addressed publicly.

The government and the concerned authorities are expected to respond through the appropriate institutional and legal processes.

Why the Ram Mandir Donation Case Has Become Politically Significant

The Ram Mandir donation case has become politically sensitive because the temple in Ayodhya holds major religious and cultural significance for millions of people.

The allegations concern the management of donations and valuable offerings associated with the temple, making transparency and accountability central issues in the political debate.

For the Opposition, the controversy has become an issue that warrants discussion in Parliament. Kharge has particularly emphasised the need for the Prime Minister to respond.

At the same time, the ongoing investigation remains the key mechanism for determining whether the allegations have substance and identifying responsibility if wrongdoing is established.

Investigation to Establish the Facts

The fresh SIT investigation will be important in determining the actual circumstances surrounding the allegations.

Investigators are expected to examine relevant financial records, transactions and other available evidence. The probe will also seek to establish the extent of any alleged financial irregularities and identify those responsible, if wrongdoing is established.

Until the investigation is completed, allegations regarding theft, embezzlement or misuse of donations remain allegations rather than proven findings.

Political Debate Continues

The dispute has now become part of a broader political confrontation between the ruling side and Opposition parties.

Kharge's demand for a Prime Ministerial response has added a political dimension to the ongoing investigation. Opposition leaders have argued that Parliament should provide a platform for discussing issues connected with public faith and the management of temple donations.

The government and investigating agencies, meanwhile, will face pressure to ensure that the probe is conducted transparently and that any wrongdoing established through evidence is dealt with according to law.

The Ram Mandir donation case has emerged as a major political and legal issue, with Mallikarjun Kharge demanding that Prime Minister Narendra Modi come to Parliament and respond to allegations concerning donations and valuables associated with the Ayodhya temple.

A fresh SIT investigation has been constituted, while several arrests have reportedly been made. Investigators are continuing to examine the alleged financial irregularities and trace the money trail.

With the investigation underway, the focus will now remain on the findings of the SIT and the legal process. Any allegations will ultimately need to be established through evidence and due process.
