In a high-octane Match 25 of IPL 2026, the Gujarat Titans (GT) showcased their dominance at home, chasing down a target of 181 to defeat the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by five wickets. Skipper Shubman Gill was the architect of the victory, playing a sublime innings that left the KKR bowlers searching for answers at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Match Summary Toss: Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and elected to bat first. KKR Innings: 180 All Out (20 Overs) GT Innings: 181/5 (19.4 Overs) Result: Gujarat Titans won by 5 wickets (with 2 balls remaining). Player of the Match: Shubman Gill (GT) KKR Innings: Cameron Green Battles Alone Kolkata’s decision to bat first backfired early as the Titans’ pace duo of Mohammed Siraj and Kagiso Rabada tore through the top order. KKR found themselves reeling at 32/3 within the powerplay. The rescue act came from Cameron Green, who played a lone hand with a fighting 79 off 55 balls, including 7 fours and 4 sixes. He found brief support in Rovman Powell (27), but the Knight Riders lost their momentum in the death overs. A late collapse saw KKR lose their final 6 wickets for just 33 runs, finishing at 180 all out on the final ball of the innings. Top Bowlers for GT: Kagiso Rabada: 3/29 (4 overs) Mohammed Siraj: 2/23 (4 overs) Ashok Sharma: 2/45 (4 overs) GT Chase: The Gill Show Chasing 181, Gujarat Titans got off to a flyer. Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan (22) put on a 50-run opening stand that set the tone. Gill was in cruise control, smashing 86 off 50 balls at a strike rate of 172.00. His innings was peppered with 8 boundaries and 4 towering sixes. Despite a mid-innings wobble where Varun Chakaravarthy (2/34) picked up key wickets, Gill ensured the required rate remained under control. After Gill's departure in the 17th over, Rahul Tewatia and Shahrukh Khan kept their cool to seal the game with two balls to spare. With this victory, Gujarat Titans climb into the Top 4 of the IPL 2026 standings. Meanwhile, the Kolkata Knight Riders remain winless this season, suffering their fifth defeat in six matches.
