TMC Heading for Maharashtra-Style Split, Claims West Bengal Minister Tapas Roy

West Bengal minister Tapas Roy on Tuesday claimed that the opposition Trinamool Congress (TMC) is heading towards a split similar to the political fractures witnessed in Maharashtra in recent years.

Speaking to reporters outside the West Bengal Assembly, Roy alleged that internal contradictions within the party have begun surfacing, leading to growing instability in the TMC's ranks.

The minister further claimed that the party had accommodated several individuals with limited political experience and ideological grounding, which he said has contributed to the current situation.

His remarks come amid ongoing speculation over dissent within the TMC and reports of differences among sections of the party leadership. Roy's comments are likely to intensify the political debate in West Bengal, where the ruling party has been facing allegations of internal discord.

The TMC has not officially responded to Roy's remarks. However, the statement is expected to fuel discussions over the party's future political course ahead of key electoral battles in the state.
