The Election Commission of India on Sunday announced that the upcoming Assembly elections in West Bengal will be conducted in two phases on April 23 and April 29. According to the poll body, voting will take place across all 294 Assembly constituencies in the state, with elaborate arrangements being put in place to ensure a smooth, transparent, and secure electoral process. The Commission said that the counting of votes for all seats will be held on May 4, when the results will determine the composition of the next legislative assembly in one of India’s most politically significant states. Officials indicated that security deployment, polling personnel arrangements, and voter awareness campaigns will be intensified in the coming weeks to facilitate orderly voting across the state. The Election Commission also reiterated its commitment to ensuring free, fair, and peaceful elections, while urging voters to participate actively in the democratic process. West Bengal, which sends 294 members to its Legislative Assembly, remains a crucial political battleground, with major parties expected to mount vigorous campaigns ahead of polling day.
