North Bengal: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday chaired a high-level security meeting in North Bengal, emphasizing the Centre's zero-tolerance policy against illegal infiltration along the Indo-Bangladesh border and the strategically important Chicken's Neck corridor.

The meeting was attended by West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, senior administrative officials, and top security personnel. Shah stressed that border security remains a top national priority and directed all agencies to ensure strict enforcement of anti-infiltration measures.

The Home Minister instructed authorities to expedite the identification of illegal immigrants and initiate their deportation through due legal procedures. He also ordered heightened vigilance to prevent the creation or issuance of forged identity cards, fake government documents, and fraudulent citizenship records.

To strengthen coordination among security and administrative agencies, Shah mandated that review meetings be held every 15 days to assess border security, infiltration trends, and intelligence sharing. He emphasized seamless inter-departmental coordination to ensure effective implementation.

The Home Minister also directed officials to promptly investigate complaints related to unauthorized constructions at religious sites and take appropriate legal action wherever required.

Following the meeting, the Chief Secretary of West Bengal is expected to issue detailed operational guidelines for district administrations and field officers to ensure uniform implementation of the Centre's directives.

Reaffirming the government's stance, Amit Shah said that the Centre has adopted a "zero-tolerance policy" against illegal infiltration and instructed officials to keep this principle at the forefront while carrying out their responsibilities.
