Amit Shah Unveils World's Largest Yogurt Plant in Bengal

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah has announced a major milestone for West Bengal's dairy sector, stating that the state is set to host the world's largest yogurt production plant, a project expected to transform the rural economy and significantly benefit local dairy farmers.

Sharing the update on social media, Shah said the facility will process 10 lakh litres of milk and curd every day, creating a robust dairy ecosystem while directly empowering more than 1.2 lakh local cattle rearers.

He further revealed that 30 acres of land have been allotted to the Amul Federation, where two mega dairy plants are being established. These projects are expected to provide better procurement rates and market opportunities for an additional 2.5 lakh dairy farmers across the state.

According to Shah, the initiative will strengthen West Bengal's cooperative dairy sector, enhance milk processing capacity and generate new economic opportunities in rural areas. The project is also expected to improve farmers' incomes while supporting the state's agricultural and industrial development.

The upcoming dairy infrastructure marks one of the largest investments in West Bengal's dairy sector and is aimed at making the state a key hub for dairy processing and value-added milk products.
