Ancy Sojan Edappilly Clinches Silver in Women’s Long Jump at Asian Games 2026

India’s Ancy Sojan Edappilly won the silver medal in the women’s long jump final at the 2026 Asian Games, producing a strong performance in a closely contested final.

Ancy led the competition for much of the event and entered the sixth and final round with the advantage. However, China’s Huang Yingying delivered a decisive final attempt of 6.55 metres to move into first place.

Ancy responded with a final jump of 6.49 metres, finishing just two centimetres behind Huang and securing the silver medal.

The result gives Ancy her second consecutive Asian Games silver medal, following her silver-medal performance at the Hangzhou 2023 Asian Games.

Hailing from Thrissur, Kerala, the 25-year-old athlete has established herself as a prominent figure in Indian long jump. She has previously recorded a personal best of 6.88 metres on the World Athletics Continental Tour.

Ancy’s performance adds another medal to India’s athletics campaign at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games. Earlier on Day 8, Harita Bhadra won bronze in the women’s 200m final.
