Andhra energy video contest invites school entries by December 3
The Andhra energy video contest has opened for students in Classes 7 to 10 across government, aided and private schools, an official release said in Vijayawada. The State Energy Conservation Mission announced the competition ahead of National Energy Conservation Week.
Students can enter individually or form teams with up to 10 members. Their videos must last between 30 seconds and two minutes and may be made in Telugu, English or Hindi.
S. Nagalakshmi, who is AP-Genco managing director and the mission's chief executive, announced the initiative. She asked school heads, teachers and parents to encourage participation.
Conservation themes and prizes announced
The Andhra energy video contest offers five theme areas. Smart Energy Choices covers BEE star-rated appliances, while Energy Independence focuses on electric mobility and Cook Smart addresses clean cooking technologies.
A Future Energy Technologies theme includes smart grids and artificial intelligence. Innovate for Tomorrow covers subjects such as school energy audits, smart farming and green hydrogen.
The first prize is ₹30,000, followed by ₹18,000 for second place and ₹12,000 for third. Ten consolation prizes of ₹5,000 each are also available, alongside mementos and certificates.
School authorities or parents can upload entries through the mission's designated online portal before December 3, 2026. The submission responsibility therefore rests with adults supporting the participating students.
The mission said official communications had already been sent to the Commissioner of School Education and District Educational Officers. Schools are being encouraged to help students explore the listed energy-saving themes through short videos.
The competition is linked to the annual conservation observance scheduled from December 14 to 20. Its stated purpose is to involve young people in thinking about sustainability, energy use and emerging technologies through a format they can create individually or with classmates.
