Anil Ambani CBI FIR: Reliance Capital Faces ₹2,684 Crore LIC Loss Allegation
Anil Ambani CBI FIR: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a fresh FIR against Reliance Capital Limited (RCAP), its former chairman Anil D. Ambani, Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADA Group) Group Managing Director Satish Seth, and others in connection with an alleged ₹2,684.57 crore loss to the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC).
The FIR was registered on the basis of a written complaint submitted by LIC, according to an official statement cited in a report by IANS on September 18, 2026. The allegations include criminal conspiracy, cheating, criminal breach of trust, criminal misconduct, diversion and misappropriation of funds, and falsification of accounts. The allegations remain subject to investigation.
CBI FIR Against Anil Ambani and Reliance Capital
According to the CBI, LIC alleged that it subscribed to five non-convertible debentures (NCDs) issued by Reliance Capital between April 12, 2012, and March 9, 2018.
The total value of the NCD investments was ₹3,900 crore. LIC said the investments were made for purposes including general corporate requirements, funding needs and refinancing of existing debt.
The agency is investigating allegations that the funds were subsequently diverted or misappropriated, resulting in an alleged wrongful loss of ₹2,684.57 crore to LIC.
What LIC Has Alleged
The complaint submitted by LIC alleges that the accused persons entered into a criminal conspiracy and allegedly induced LIC to invest in Reliance Capital through misrepresentation.
