Asian Games 2026: India Win Women’s Cricket Gold as Hockey, Kabaddi and Boxing Dominate

India produced a spectacular display of sporting dominance on Day 3 of the Asian Games 2026, combining a landmark gold medal in women’s cricket with emphatic victories in hockey, kabaddi and boxing.

The day’s biggest success came in women’s cricket, where India clinched the gold medal with a commanding 147-run victory over Sri Lanka. India posted 216/3 before restricting Sri Lanka to 69, securing the country’s first gold medal of the Games and underlining the team’s continued strength on the continental stage.

The Indian men’s hockey team continued its high-scoring campaign in Pool A with a ruthless 16-1 victory over Sri Lanka. Jugraj Singh was the star of the attack with four goals, while Abhishek and Dilpreet Singh scored hat-tricks as India maintained its perfect start to the tournament.

Defending champions India also dominated in men’s kabaddi, defeating South Korea 63-31 in their Group A encounter. India established a commanding 34-14 lead at half-time and maintained control throughout the second half to complete another convincing victory.

The boxing ring provided further reason for celebration. Sakshi Chaudhary recorded a 5-0 unanimous-decision victory over Paris Olympics bronze medallist Aira Villegas in the women’s 51kg Round of 32, advancing to the Round of 16. Jadumani Singh produced an equally dominant performance, defeating Chandra Bahadur Thapa 5-0 in the men’s 55kg division to progress to the last 16.

India’s Day 3 campaign therefore combined gold-medal success with commanding performances across multiple disciplines. From the cricket field and hockey pitch to the kabaddi court and boxing ring, Indian athletes continued to build momentum at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026.
