Shah Rukh birthday: fans gather at Mannat as actor sends thanks
Shah Rukh birthday celebrations drew fans to Mannat in Mumbai at midnight on Monday, November 2, as the actor turned 61. He thanked them through a handwritten message displayed outside the residence, although he did not appear in person.
The actor has temporarily moved out of the Bandra bungalow, according to reports. His usual birthday balcony greeting did not take place, but crowds still assembled outside to mark the occasion.
King song and December release feature in celebrations
The message returned fans' affection and thanked them for their wishes. Large displays and projections also featured material from his forthcoming film King, linking the birthday gathering with the movie's promotion.
Police were deployed outside Mannat as visitors continued to arrive during the early hours. Officers managed the crowd and checked vehicles near the residence.
The Shah Rukh birthday displays extended to Mumbai's Bandra-Worli Sea Link, which was illuminated with greetings and images on Sunday. Fans elsewhere in the country also held events and cut cakes.
The occasion included the unveiling of Tu Mil Jaaye, the first song from King. Deepika Padukone appears with Shah Rukh in the track, whose visuals combine romantic moments and action sequences.
Arijit Singh and Madhubanti Bagchi provide vocals, while Ed Sheeran contributes a rap section. Sachin-Jigar composed the song.
King is directed by Siddharth Anand and produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Pictures. Its worldwide cinema release is scheduled for December 24, 2026.
The project reunites Shah Rukh with Anand after Pathaan, which reached theatres in 2023. It also marks his first on-screen collaboration with his daughter Suhana Khan.
Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukerji and Abhishek Bachchan feature in key roles. The film will be Shah Rukh's first release since Rajkumar Hirani's Dunki, according to the reports.
