Asian Games 2026: Yashvir Singh and Rohit Yadav Secure Double Podium in Men's Javelin Throw

India’s javelin throwers delivered a strong performance at the 2026 Asian Games, securing two medals in the Men’s Javelin Throw final.

Yashvir Singh clinched the silver medal with a personal-best throw of 85.72 metres, while Rohit Yadav claimed bronze with a best effort of 84.35 metres.

Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage won the gold medal with a throw of 88.55 metres. The Sri Lankan athlete produced a decisive finish, crossing the 88-metre mark twice in the final rounds, including his winning effort on his sixth and final throw.

India’s double podium finish came after the injury-enforced withdrawal of defending champion Neeraj Chopra, with Yashvir and Rohit stepping up to maintain India’s strong presence in Asian javelin.

The result also saw India repeat its double-medal achievement from the Hangzhou Asian Games, underlining the depth and strength of the country’s javelin programme.
