The Allegations: Passports, Penthouses, and Billions
On April 5, Congress leader Pawan Khera held a press conference alleging that the Chief Minister’s wife, Riniki Bhuyan Sharma, holds triple citizenship with passports from the UAE, Egypt, and Antigua and Barbuda.
Khera further claimed that the family owns undisclosed luxury properties in Dubai and business interests in the U.S.
CM’s Refutation: “Fake AI & Pakistani Links”
Chief Minister Sarma dismissed the claims as a “fake AI campaign” and “digitally manipulated” content. He provided a detailed rebuttal, claiming:
Stolen Documents: The property papers were allegedly lifted from the platform Scribd.
Mistaken Identity: Sarma identified the real owners of the Dubai apartments as Md. Ahmad and Fatima Sulaiman, not his family.
Foreign Interference: Sarma accused the Congress of using materials supplied by a Pakistani social media group to interfere with the Indian democratic process.
