The victory extended Brazil's unbeaten run in the group stage and ensured they advanced as Group C winners. They will now face the runners-up of Group F in Houston on 29 June.
Vinicius Junior also made history by becoming only the fifth Brazilian player to score in all three World Cup group-stage matches, joining the elite company of Jairzinho, Romario, Ronaldo and Rivaldo.
Scotland, meanwhile, remain third in the standings with three points and a goal difference of -3. Their hopes of reaching the knockout stage for the first time are still alive but now depend on other results.
Late in the match, Neymar Jr made his fourth consecutive FIFA World Cup appearance as a substitute, delighting Brazilian supporters.
