Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to Review 16 DPSUs on Sept 1, 2026
KT- Rajnath Singh

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will undertake the annual performance review of 16 Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) in New Delhi on September 1, 2026, with a focus on strengthening indigenous defence technologies and enhancing India's defence exports.

The annual review, being organised by the Ministry of Defence, is expected to assess the performance of the country's defence public sector enterprises and examine their role in advancing India's self-reliance in defence production.

The meeting comes amid the continued emphasis on developing home-grown technologies, expanding manufacturing capabilities and increasing the global reach of Indian defence products.

Rajnath Singh to Review Performance of 16 DPSUs
The annual performance review will bring together the leadership of 16 DPSUs under the Ministry of Defence. The exercise is aimed at reviewing their performance and assessing the progress of India's defence production ecosystem.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is expected to underscore the importance of developing new indigenous technologies during the review.

The focus on indigenous technology reflects the broader objective of reducing dependence on foreign defence equipment while strengthening India's domestic research, development and manufacturing capabilities.

Focus on Indigenous Defence Technology

One of the major priorities of the review will be the development of new indigenous technologies.
For India's defence sector, indigenous research and manufacturing are important components of building a more self-reliant defence ecosystem. DPSUs play a significant role in manufacturing defence equipment and supporting the country's strategic requirements.

The review will therefore place emphasis on innovation, technological development and strengthening domestic capabilities.

Boosting Defence Exports

Enhancing defence exports will be another key area of focus during the annual performance review.

India has been seeking to expand its presence in international defence markets by strengthening domestic manufacturing and developing products that can meet the requirements of partner countries.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is expected to highlight the importance of increasing the export potential of Indian defence companies and improving their competitiveness in global markets.

Greater export opportunities can also contribute to the growth of India's defence manufacturing sector and encourage investment in technology and production capacity.

Seven DPSUs to Present Dividend Cheques

As part of the event, the CMDs of seven major DPSUs will present dividend cheques to the Raksha Mantri representing the Government's equity shares for the Financial Year 2025–26.

The seven companies are:

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL)

Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL)

Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL)

Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL)

Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited (GRSE)

BEML Limited

MIDHANI

The dividend cheques will represent the Government's shareholding in these defence public sector companies for FY 2025–26.

HAL, MDL, BEL and Other DPSUs

The participating companies represent several important segments of India's defence manufacturing ecosystem.

HAL is associated with aerospace and aircraft manufacturing, while MDL and GRSE are major players in defence shipbuilding. BEL specialises in defence electronics, and BDL manufactures a range of defence systems and equipment.

BEML operates across sectors including defence and heavy engineering, while MIDHANI specialises in the production of special metals and materials used in strategic and high-technology applications.

Their participation highlights the diverse capabilities represented within India's DPSU network.
