DUSU Election 2026: Counting Begins Amid Heightened Security at Delhi University

DUSU Election 2026 vote counting began on Saturday, September 19, amid heightened security arrangements across Delhi University (DU), as students and major student organisations await the results of the four key posts of the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU). The counting process is being conducted at the Multipurpose Hall of the University Sports Stadium in North Campus.

The DUSU Election 2026 was held on September 18, with voting taking place across Delhi University colleges. A total of 20 candidates contested the four central DUSU posts — President, Vice-President, Secretary and Joint Secretary.

DUSU Election 2026: 20 Candidates in the Fray

According to the final provisional candidate list, seven candidates contested for the post of President, while five candidates were in the race for Vice-President. Four candidates each contested for the posts of Secretary and Joint Secretary.

The main contest features candidates backed by major student organisations, including the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), and the alliance of the All India Students’ Association (AISA) and Students’ Federation of India (SFI).

The four central posts being contested are:

President: 7 candidates

Vice-President: 5 candidates

Secretary: 4 candidates

Joint Secretary: 4 candidates

Together, these account for the 20 candidates contesting the central DUSU panel.

Key Candidates in DUSU Election 2026

The major student organisations have fielded candidates for the four central positions.

ABVP has nominated Yash Dabas for President, Ishu Maurya for Vice-President, Riya Chhawadi for Secretary and Lakshya Raj Singh for Joint Secretary.

NSUI has fielded Vijay Shankar Meena for President, Vir Chatrath for Vice-President, Namrata Chaudhary for Secretary and Gopal Choudhary for Joint Secretary.

The AISA-SFI alliance has nominated Ananya Raturi for President, Akshat Shikhar for Vice-President, Stanzin Deskyong for Secretary and B Parijaat for Joint Secretary.

Counting Underway at Delhi University

The counting of votes for the DUSU Election 2026 started on September 19. The results for the four central posts are expected to be announced after the counting process is completed.
