A dominant all-round performance by hosts England saw them defeat India by 26 runs in the second Women's T20 International (T20I) at the Seat Unique Stadium in Bristol. With this victory, England bounce back to level the three-match bilateral series, turning the final fixture into a thrilling series decider.

Match Summary

The Match Result:

England won by 26 runs.
Series Status: Tied at 1–1.

Player of the Match: Freya Kemp (England) — 39 runs off 13 balls & 2 wickets for 15 runs.

Kemp’s Blitz Blitzes Indian Chase

Choosing to bat first, England’s top-order laid down a stable foundation with Danni Wyatt-Hodge (29) and Alice Capsey (28) making solid contributions. However, it was Freya Kemp’s blistering late-innings cameo that completely shifted the momentum. Kemp smashed a sensational 39 runs off just 13 deliveries, striking at a massive rate of 300.00, including 4 boundaries and 2 huge maximums. Her fireworks pushed the hosts to a highly competitive total of 168/5. For India, young bowler Shree Charani was the standout with the ball, picking up 3 wickets for 25 runs in her 4-over spell.

Chasing 169 for victory, India got off to a quick start courtesy of Smriti Mandhana (32) and Shafali Verma (22). Wicketkeeper-batsman Yastika Bhatia anchored the middle period with a steady 33 off 36 balls, and captain Harmanpreet Kaur chipped in with a swift 28.

Unfortunately for the visitors, the English bowling attack pulled back the reins brilliantly in the second half of the innings. Spinner Charlie Dean squeezed the run-rate giving away just 20 runs for her 2 wickets, while Freya Kemp returned with the ball to dismantle the lower order, taking 2/15. India’s chase lost steam under increasing scoreboard pressure, collapsing from a stable position to finish at 142/9 as the 20 overs concluded.

This series serves as a critical dress rehearsal for both heavyweights ahead of the upcoming ICC Women's T20 World Cup. With everything to play for, the series moves to Taunton for the third and final T20I match.
