Ireland Stun India to Complete Historic T20I Series Sweep

Ireland produced one of the biggest upsets in recent T20I cricket, defeating reigning world champions India by just one run at Stormont Cricket Ground in Belfast to complete a historic 2-0 bilateral series sweep. The result marked India's first T20I series defeat in nearly three years.

Batting first, Ireland posted 154/8 in 20 overs, thanks to a composed 53 off 47 balls from Harry Tector and a valuable 37 off 23 from Ben Calitz. India fought back well with the ball, led by debutant Prince Yadav, who impressed with figures of 3/22, while Shivam Dube chipped in with 2/25.

India's chase got off to a disastrous start as Jai Moondra ripped through the top order. Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma were dismissed for golden ducks, leaving the visitors struggling at 19/3 inside the opening three overs.

Despite the early collapse, Tilak Varma anchored the innings with a determined 55 off 46 deliveries, while Harshit Rana injected late momentum with a quickfire 21 off 10 balls. Ireland, however, held their nerve in the closing stages.

Needing a boundary from the final ball, debutant Prince Yadav launched the delivery for a towering six, but India still finished one run short at 153/9, as Ireland celebrated one of the most memorable victories in their T20I history.

The thrilling win not only secured a 2-0 series triumph for Ireland but also ended India's dominant run in bilateral T20I cricket, highlighting the rapid rise of Irish cricket on the international stage.
