Modi Slams Punjab Government Over Law and Order Crisis

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the Punjab government during a public address in Jalandhar, alleging that the state's law and order situation has deteriorated significantly and that the ruling party has put Punjab's future at risk.

Modi claimed that the government is identified by "dishonesty" and accused it of masking governance failures through aggressive advertising. He said the reality on the ground tells a different story, with crime and insecurity becoming major concerns across the state.

Highlighting the security situation, the Prime Minister said gang wars can erupt at any moment and that residents live under constant fear. He alleged that doing business in Punjab has become increasingly difficult as extortion demands are being made openly. According to Modi, even police stations have become frequent targets of attacks, reflecting what he described as a complete breakdown of law and order.

The Prime Minister also raised concerns over the alleged drug menace in the state, claiming that drug peddlers are operating without fear while Punjab's youth are being pushed deeper into addiction. He said these developments are systematically harming the state's future and called for stronger governance to restore peace and security.

Sharpening his political attack, Modi alleged that a court had recently sentenced one of the ruling party's MLAs to seven years in prison in a case involving an attack on government officials and extortion. He further claimed that extortion, harassment and illegal occupation had become the hallmark of the party's politics, adding that several individuals accused in similar cases are currently out on bail.

The Prime Minister said Punjab deserves a government that prioritizes public safety, economic growth and the welfare of its youth, asserting that restoring law and order is essential for the state's development.
