Piyush Goyal Hails Export of Jharkhand’s Amrapali Mangoes to UK as ‘Local Goes Global’ Success Story

In a significant boost to India's agricultural exports, the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) has facilitated the first-ever export of fresh Amrapali mangoes from Jharkhand to the United Kingdom.A consignment of 1.5 metric tonnes of premium Amrapali mangoes was exported by a women-led Farmer Producer Company (FPC) from Simdega district, marking a major milestone for the state's horticulture sector and rural women entrepreneurs.

The breakthrough follows an Export-Oriented Capacity Building Programme organized by APEDA for Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs), Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), and progressive farmers. The programme focused on export requirements, quality standards, packaging, and market opportunities, enabling local farmers to access international markets.

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal hailed the achievement on social media, describing it as a powerful example of "Local Goes Global."

He stated that Amrapali mangoes grown by the women farmer producer company of Simdega are now reaching consumers in the United Kingdom, highlighting how APEDA's continuous efforts are helping farmers secure better prices, empowering women with new opportunities and identities, and giving fresh momentum to India's agricultural exports.

The successful export is expected to open new global market opportunities for farmers in Jharkhand while strengthening India's position as a leading exporter of premium agricultural products. The achievement also showcases the growing role of women-led enterprises in driving rural economic growth and enhancing India's agri-export ecosystem.

As India continues to expand its agricultural footprint across international markets, the export of Jharkhand's Amrapali mangoes stands as a shining example of local produce achieving global recognition.
