Jaishankar, Nepal FM Launch UPI-National Payments Interface Linkage in New Delhi
External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar met Nepal's Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba Shisir in New Delhi to review and strengthen the longstanding partnership between the two neighboring countries.

During the meeting, Dr. Jaishankar virtually handed over 72 health facilities and 12 cultural heritage projects completed under India's post-earthquake reconstruction assistance programme following the devastating 2015 Nepal earthquake. The projects reflect India's continued commitment to supporting Nepal's development and recovery efforts.

In a major step toward enhancing financial connectivity, the two leaders jointly launched the linkage between India's Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and Nepal's National Payments Interface. The initiative will facilitate seamless cross-border personal remittances, making financial transactions faster, safer, and more convenient for citizens of both countries.

The ministers also witnessed the exchange of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Digital India Bhashini and Kathmandu University. The partnership aims to co-create Nepal's National Digital Infrastructure for a 'Voice First' Language Translation Platform, leveraging advanced language technologies to improve communication and digital inclusion.
The discussions highlighted the growing cooperation between India and Nepal across sectors including digital innovation, infrastructure development, connectivity, culture, and people-to-people exchanges.
The latest initiatives underscore the shared commitment of both nations to further strengthen bilateral ties and advance regional prosperity through technology-driven collaboration and sustainable development.
