Piyush Goyal Invites Foreign Universities to Set Up Campuses in India
Union Minister Piyush Goyal has said that India is looking to invite international universities to establish campuses in the country, aiming to provide quality higher education closer to home while reducing the outflow of foreign exchange spent by Indian students studying abroad.
Speaking about the initiative, Goyal highlighted the importance of collaboration between Indian and foreign universities to co-create academic programmes, develop modern curricula and prepare students for the demands of the evolving global economy. He noted that studying in India could also help international students understand the country’s languages, cultures and social behaviour, particularly as India, Africa and Latin America emerge as important growth engines of the future.
The initiative aims to promote cross-border academic collaboration, strengthen India’s higher education ecosystem and create new opportunities for global learning.
