Sitharaman Highlights India's Financial Inclusion Success

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman highlighted India's financial inclusion journey as a cornerstone of the country's social and economic transformation while addressing the Rencontres Économiques d’Aix-en-Provence.

She said Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) brought crores of previously unbanked citizens into the formal banking system and expanded access to collateral-free credit backed by sovereign guarantees.

The Finance Minister emphasized that India's robust digital public infrastructure has empowered millions to become entrepreneurs, build creditworthiness, and actively participate in the formal economy.

She noted that financial inclusion, combined with digital innovation, has created new opportunities for inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
