Union Commerce & Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Tuesday announced the release of the NDA’s “chargesheet” against the ruling DMK-Congress government in Tamil Nadu, outlining a series of allegations related to governance, corruption, and law-and-order concerns. In a statement shared on social media, Goyal claimed that the past five years under the leadership of Chief Minister M. K. Stalin have been challenging for the state’s nearly 8 crore residents. He alleged financial mismanagement and rising debt levels, stating that Tamil Nadu has become one of the most indebted states in the country. The minister further accused the government of failing to address crimes across various sections of society, including women, children, Dalits, Hindus, youth, and farmers. He asserted that these issues would become key factors as voters head to the ballot in upcoming elections. Highlighting the NDA’s political strategy, Goyal said the alliance—led in the state by Edappadi K. Palaniswami and guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi—aims to bring back “good governance” and position Tamil Nadu as a leading contributor to India’s development vision. The DMK has not yet officially responded to the chargesheet. Political analysts expect the exchange to intensify as election season approaches in the southern state.
