Piyush Goyal Launches UPI Services in Greece
India's digital payments revolution has reached another major international milestone with the launch of Unified Payments Interface (UPI) services in Greece through a partnership between Eurobank and NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL).

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal witnessed a live demonstration of the Eurobank-NIPL partnership at Eurobank headquarters in Athens. The event was attended by Eurobank CEO Fokion Karavias and Fairfax Digital Services CEO Sanjay Tugnait, highlighting the growing global adoption of India's digital payment infrastructure.

Sharing the development on social media, Piyush Goyal said the launch marks another important milestone in the global expansion of India's digital payment ecosystem.
With UPI now operational in Greece, eligible customers can make instant, secure and seamless money transfers while significantly reducing transaction costs compared to conventional payment methods.
The Union Minister also noted that the increasing global acceptance of UPI reflects the trust in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of developing technology-driven solutions that create value beyond borders and strengthen international partnerships for shared growth and prosperity.
The launch further expands UPI's international footprint and reinforces India's position as a global leader in digital financial innovation, making cross-border digital transactions faster, more secure and more affordable.
