England Outlast France in Epic 6-4 Bronze Thriller

England secured third place at the FIFA World Cup 2026 after defeating France 6-4 in a breathtaking bronze medal match at Miami Stadium. Bukayo Saka stole the spotlight with a stunning hat-trick, while Jude Bellingham's late strike ensured the Three Lions ended their campaign on a high.

Thomas Tuchel's side dominated the opening half, racing into a commanding 4-0 lead. Declan Rice opened the scoring with a superb long-range effort after just 134 seconds, making it England's second-fastest World Cup goal ever. Ezri Konsa doubled the advantage before Saka struck twice in quick succession after an earlier effort was ruled out for offside.

France mounted a sensational comeback after the break. Kylian Mbappe ignited the fightback by scoring from a Michael Olise assist before setting up Bradley Barcola to reduce the deficit further. Mbappe then scored again to bring Les Bleus within one goal, taking his remarkable World Cup tally in North America to 10 goals in eight matches.

The only men with more in a World Cup are Sandor Kocsis with 11 for Hungary in 1954 and Just Fontaine with 13 for France in 1958.

England regained control when Saka converted a penalty after Malo Gusto fouled Djed Spence. Ousmane Dembele pulled France back to within one goal once again, but Bellingham produced a brilliant solo effort in the closing stages to seal a memorable 6-4 victory.

The result secured England's best FIFA World Cup finish since lifting the trophy on home soil in 1966. It also marked the end of Didier Deschamps' successful tenure as France head coach.

Bukayo Saka was deservedly named Player of the Match after delivering one of the finest individual performances of the tournament with his match-winning hat-trick.
