🗣 "Mucha gente alrededor del mundo conoce a Roger como uno de los mejores tenistas que jamás haya existido. Conocen los títulos, los récords, la elegancia, las rivalidades, las victorias y los momentos que se convirtieron…
Reflecting on their journey together, Mirka recalled that when they first met, Roger had “exactly zero ATP titles.” From those early days, she witnessed his transformation into one of the most successful and admired athletes in tennis history.
“Many people around the world know Roger as one of the greatest tennis players who ever lived,” Mirka said, reflecting on his titles, records, elegance, rivalries and historic victories.
But for Mirka, Roger's greatest achievement extends far beyond his extraordinary career.
“What makes me most proud isn't what Roger achieved when the world was watching; it's who he is when no one is watching,” she said.
Family Always Came First
One of the most touching moments of Mirka's speech came as she recalled the couple's first experience expecting twins.
“When I found out we were expecting twins for the first time, I told Roger that my days of traveling were probably over,” she said.
According to Mirka, Roger immediately responded: “Then I won't play anymore.”
She explained that he was not being dramatic and genuinely meant what he said.
“That's Roger: his family comes first,” Mirka said.
The story offered an intimate glimpse into the man behind the global sporting icon, emphasizing the importance Federer placed on his family throughout his extraordinary career.
A Personal Thank You
Mirka then turned directly to her husband with an emotional message of gratitude.
“Roger: thank you,” she said. “Thank you for being persistent all those years ago in Sydney. Thank you for choosing our family every single day since then.”
She described watching Roger's career as one of the greatest privileges and joys of her life, while saying that sharing his life had been an even greater one.
Concluding her introduction, Mirka presented Roger as more than a tennis champion.
“And tonight, it's an honor for me to present my husband, my best friend, and now the newest member of the International Tennis Hall of Fame: Roger.”
The emotional tribute highlighted a side of Federer's legacy that statistics and trophies cannot fully capture: his role as a husband, father and family man.
