Outgoing Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi expressed complete confidence in his successor, General Dhiraj Seth, saying the Indian Army will continue to uphold its proud traditions while remaining prepared for emerging security challenges.
Speaking during the change of command, General Dwivedi described General Seth as a seasoned soldier and an able leader.
"Today, I am handing over this responsibility to General Dhiraj Seth. He is a seasoned soldier and a capable leader. I have full confidence that under his leadership, the Indian Army will scale even greater heights while upholding its glorious traditions, professionalism, and resolve."
He added that he was confident about the future of the Indian Army, saying it would remain rooted in its traditions, stay alert to present-day challenges and be fully prepared for any future contingencies.
Reflecting on his tenure, General Dwivedi said the Indian Army had maintained a high level of preparedness, balance and vigilance over the past two years.
He highlighted Operation Snow Leopard along the northern borders, describing it as a symbol of strength and constant alertness. On the western front, he cited Operation Sindoor as an example of the Army carrying out its responsibilities with professionalism, restraint and discipline.
The Army Chief said the Armed Forces had executed national security tasks with clear objectives and responsibility, helping establish a "new normal" in India's defence preparedness.
General Dwivedi also praised the growing synergy among the Army, Navy and Air Force, saying the three services now work with greater trust, coordination and a shared vision.
Looking ahead, he emphasized that future conflicts would be joint, integrated and theatre-oriented, requiring seamless cooperation across all three services.
"Our direction is clear: to look together, decide together, and act together," he said, underlining the Indian Armed Forces' commitment to integrated military operations and strengthening India's national security.
