Expelled TMC MLA Ritabrata Banerjee Stirs Political Row, Claims Loyalty to Party Despite Ouster

Expelled Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Ritabrata Banerjee has sparked fresh political controversy in West Bengal by asserting that he continues to consider himself a member of the party despite being expelled.

Speaking to the media, Banerjee said, “The party has expelled me, but I believe that I am still with the TMC.” He further made remarks targeting TMC National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee, claiming that the Diamond Harbour MP holds no position in the 18th West Bengal State Legislative Assembly.

In another politically significant statement, Banerjee claimed that a majority of TMC MLAs from Howrah would continue participating in administrative meetings allegedly led by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari. The remark has generated sharp reactions, as Suvendu Adhikari is currently the Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly and a senior BJP leader.

The comments come amid heightened political tensions in West Bengal, with both the ruling TMC and opposition BJP engaging in a fierce battle ahead of key political developments in the state. Banerjee's statements are likely to fuel speculation over internal divisions and shifting political equations within Bengal's political landscape.
