Harry Kane Defends Tuchel's England Approach

Harry Kane has thrown his full support behind England head coach Thomas Tuchel, insisting the German tactician is not a defensive-minded coach despite England's recent FIFA World Cup semi-final defeat to Argentina.

Reflecting on England's performances, Kane explained that Tuchel has inherited a squad conditioned by years of playing under Gareth Southgate, where protecting a lead often meant dropping deep and inviting pressure.
"Tuchel is not a defensive coach. However, years of Southgate ball will take time to undo," Kane said.

The England skipper praised Tuchel's efforts to reshape the team's mentality, highlighting that the manager has already shown significant progress in previous matches by encouraging the team to stay aggressive and maintain possession instead of retreating.

"He's inherited a team with a habit of dropping deep when they score, and he's done a brilliant job of changing this mentality in previous matches," Kane added.

Despite England's heartbreak against Argentina in the World Cup semi-final, Kane believes Tuchel's tactical approach is the right direction for the Three Lions. The captain remains confident that, with more time, England can fully embrace the proactive style the former Chelsea and Bayern Munich manager wants to implement.

Tuchel now faces the challenge of lifting his squad ahead of the FIFA World Cup third-place playoff while continuing to build a more fearless and attacking England team for the future.
