PM Modi Urges Gen Z to Celebrate National Handloom Day
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday called on people, particularly Gen Z, to celebrate National Handloom Day with the same enthusiasm they recently showed for Friendship Day, making a heartfelt appeal through an Instagram video.

In the video, the Prime Minister said that just as people celebrated friendship by exchanging bands and expressing their bonds with loved ones, they should now come together to honour India's rich handloom heritage. He encouraged citizens to buy and wear handloom products, highlighting their role in preserving centuries-old traditions.
PM Modi stressed that every handloom purchase directly supports the livelihoods of lakhs of weavers across the country while helping safeguard India's vibrant cultural legacy.
The Prime Minister's message is part of the government's continued push to promote indigenous products and encourage greater public participation in preserving India's traditional crafts. By urging young people to embrace handloom fashion, he sought to connect India's heritage with the aspirations of a new generation.
National Handloom Day is observed every year on August 7 to recognise the contribution of India's handloom sector and honour the skill, dedication and craftsmanship of millions of weavers who continue to keep the country's rich textile traditions alive.
