Ted Sarandos Hails Kargil Series at Netflix Premiere
The grand premiere of Netflix's much-awaited military drama, Operation Safed Sagar: The Untold Story Of The Kargil War, was held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, marking a major milestone for Netflix India as it celebrates a decade of operations in the country.
Speaking at the event, Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos highlighted the platform's commitment to bringing authentic Indian stories to global audiences. He said that when Netflix entered India ten years ago, it did so with the belief that some of the world's greatest stories were waiting to be told from the country—stories deeply rooted in India's history, culture, and lived experiences.
Calling Operation Safed Sagar one such story, Sarandos said it was an honour for Netflix to spotlight the extraordinary courage and service of the men and women who served during the Kargil War.
He also described the series as a landmark production for Netflix India, noting that its cinematic scale is a first for the platform in the country. According to Sarandos, the production showcases India's immense creative talent, technical expertise, and world-class production capabilities, proving that Indian entertainment can stand confidently alongside the best productions globally.
The premiere celebrated not only the upcoming military drama but also Netflix India's ten-year journey in championing powerful and authentic storytelling for audiences in India and around the world.
