PM Narendra Modi Arrives in Slovakia on Historic First-Ever Visit by an Indian Prime Minister

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Slovakia on a historic official visit, becoming the first Indian Prime Minister to visit the country since Slovakia gained independence in 1993. The landmark visit marks a significant milestone in the growing relationship between India and Slovakia and is expected to open new avenues for cooperation across multiple sectors.

Upon his arrival, Prime Minister Modi was warmly received by Slovakia’s Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Juraj Blanár. In a gesture reflecting Slovak traditions and hospitality, the Prime Minister was welcomed with bread and salt, symbolizing respect, friendship, and goodwill.

The visit underscores the commitment of both nations to deepen bilateral engagement and explore opportunities in trade, investment, technology, innovation, education, defense cooperation, and people-to-people exchanges.

India and Slovakia have enjoyed cordial diplomatic relations for decades, and this historic visit is expected to further strengthen strategic ties while enhancing collaboration within the broader India-Europe partnership framework.

Prime Minister Modi's visit highlights India's growing engagement with Central Europe and reinforces New Delhi's commitment to expanding its partnerships across the European continent.
